Walnut Chippendale Side Chair (SOLD)

				                                                  							An exceptional example of a Philadelphia side chair. Pictured in Horner's Blue Book (plate #71, p. 153) and American Chairs by John Kirk (plate #68, p. 79), this side chair has a cupid's bow crest with nicely carved cabochon in the center, a pierced splat with carved volutes and a nicely carved shoe over a trapazoidal seat with a center leaf medallion. The cabriole legs have nicely carved acanthus knees and terminate to claw-and-ball feet. This side chair is marked #1 of its set.
Materials and Techniques: 
                             				                Walnut with silk damask.
Condition: 
                                Minor fracture on right rear leg which has been fortified. The center leaf medallion on the seat had a small chip restored on the right carved volute.
