Walnut Chippendale Secretary Desk (SOLD)
Description:
This example of Philadelphia craftsmanship demonstrates what the finer hands of this period could do with a secretary desk. A scrolled top with three urn and finials are all nicely complemented by vine carving surrounding a bold carved center shell make this piece a stand out. Two paneled doors with escutcheons complete the top half of the secretary. The lower half of the desk has an interior with four pidgeon holes, a center door with flanking columns and eight symmetrically placed drawers. This desk has a four-drawer arrangement with nice ogee feet.
Condition:
The brass, finials and feet have all been replaced.
