Description:

We are known for our knowledge of the spice box form.  For years, we have had the privilege of representing some of the finest examples known in the market.  This exciting chest has a prominent cornice over a tombstone door concealing a three-over-two-over-two drawer arrangement interior with figured wood.  The base has a center drop acting as a center foot with 4 flanking subtle spurs and bracket feet.  This particular book is pictured in The Pennsylvania Spice Box, Paneled Doors and Secret Drawers by Lee Ellen Griffith, plate 19, p. 71.

Materials and Techniques:

Walnut, tulip poplar and oak.

Condition:

The hinges and lock are replaced.
