Hand Carved Stools after Wharton Esherick (SOLD)
Description:
Slender turned legs with a hand carved free form seat. The delicate form is indicative of the simplistic and utilitarian form that Esherick is known for. They were made by Horace B. Hartshaw, an assitant of Wharton Esherick. Signed and dated on seat.
Materials and Techniques:
One stool has a walnut seat. The other has a cherry seat. Both stools have maple legs.
Condition:
Very good.
Origin: Valley Forge, PA.
Date: d. 1984.
Provenance:
These stools were owned by Eloise Wildman. Her in-laws, Elizabeth and Frank Wildman were neighbors and friends of Wharton Esherick in the Great Valley of Tredyffrin Township, PA.
