Perhaps one of the finest artisans of his time, Wharton Esherick (1887-1970) had an excellent grasp on design and the knowledge to apply that design. This table expresses so much of that talent. A nicely wood grained applewood top has organic and elegant form similar to that of a surfboard, while the inverted bowed and mortised legs lightly lift the top so it appears to have motion. A subtle drawer rests in the center. The table is monogrammed by Wharton Esherick and dated 1951.

On the top there is a 12" thin fracture which is supported on the bottom by a butterfly joint and a small 6" x 1" patch on the bottom as well.
This table was owned by the Eloise Wildman. Her in-laws, Elizabeth and Frank Wildman were neighbors and friends of Wharton Esherick in the Great Valley of Tredyffrin Township, PA.
